Comments on CDC (Center for Disease Control website)

In the United States, one of every three adults 65 years old or older falls each year.

Among older adults, falls are the most common cause of injuries and hospital admissions for trauma.

  • Of all fractures from falls, hip fractures cause the greatest number of deaths and lead to the most severe health problems.(11)
  • In 1996, there were approximately 340,000 hospital admissions for hip fractures in the United States..(12)

From the Center For the Advancement of Health Website:
”Do you live in a “Peter Pan” home?” asks Jon Pynoos – Ph.D. and co-director of the Fall Prevention Center of Excellence.

Dr. Pynoos was referring to homes the elderly live in that are not updated as they advance in age—the home stays designed for the young although the inhabitant continues to age.

Most falls are not “accidents”, he says. They are not an inevitable part of aging. Falls by the elderly can be greatly reduced by:

  1. Identifying those who are prone to falling.
  2. Modify their behavior and environment to prevent fall scenarios.

Bathtubs pose the highest risk of falls because of their difficulty to enter/exit and their slipperiness.

Converting a tub into a walk-in shower requires several steps by various tradespeople. However, we at Budget Bathrooms have a lot of experience in making the conversion. Not only that, we do all the work ourselves which eliminates the need of having a variety of different contractors (who charge a lot of money) make repeated calls to your home to get the job done. Because of these factors, Budget Bathrooms, Inc. will do the job faster, better and more economically than other contractors.

In addition to this, most people today view having an elegant, roomy, walk-in shower as an asset that makes your home more saleable and gives your home greater value. Besides, one slip-and-fall accident getting out of a tub more than offsets the minimal cost of the conversion.

It is important for you to realize that most contractors are not qualified to do general residential remodeling. Many contractors specialize in only one skill, such as plumbing, drywall, electrical or tile. If you try to manage your renovation yourself, you will have to coordinate all these trades.

Beyond that is the fact that many tradespeople, while being skilled in their particular field, do not have the expertise to manage a total renovation involving various trades and confronting a variety of construction situations. Knowing what to expect and having a depth of experience makes a huge difference when it comes to renovating a home.

At Budget Bathrooms, we have over 40 years of experience renovating homes. We have a specialized ‘B-03’ license, which is specifically issued to renovation contractors. Budget Bathrooms can handle your renovation.

Budget Bathrooms, Inc. has searched out the highest quality products at the lowest possible price. We pass those savings on to you. In addition, Budget Bathrooms has developed, and employs the ‘package’ concept to remodeling.

For example, when you buy a typical new home the builder has, in effect, provided ‘packages’ in their bathroom and kitchen selections; that is, you can chose from preselected groupings. This keeps their costs low.

In our Budget, Ruby and Diamond packages, we have applied the same concept. This is what enables us to deliver high quality at minimal cost to you. Of course, if you want a more personalized custom remodel, we still have the ability to deliver a great renovation at a great price.

This is an urban myth. In most cases installing a well designed, elegant, feature-rich walk in shower will enhance resale value, in addition to adding greater safety.

In many bathrooms space is at a premium and, in today’s busy world, few people take baths in a tub. However, people DO want to enjoy a soothing shower that washes away the day’s tension in an expansive and elegant environment. Removing a seldom-used tub allows the shower to be enlarged and can provide more floor space for the rest of the bath area. (Isn’t that what YOU want? So do most other people!) This is especially true if the home has a second bathroom that has a bathing tub that can be used for soaking.
